BIRMINGHAM, AL-- Local photographer Angela Karen announced the second annual ovarian cancer fundraiser with a theme! On Thursday, September 30th, Birmingham Bombshells proudly presents the second annual, "A Picture of Health", set to commence tri-level at the newly renovated Redmont Hotel on 5th Avenue and 21st street.  All Birminghamites, men and women, are invited to attend.  Patrons should arrive dressed in 1940's garb, or as their favorite golden era "pin-up" personality.  The "Picture of Health" ground level boasts several on-site photographers snapping pictures for easy ordering online and guests won't want to miss out on.  Pick up your 2011 Birmingham Bombshell benefit calendar at the event from your favorite calendar girl. Special entertainment by DJ Coco, who is rocking out the Redmont rooftop at the Above bar along with performance by Ultra Hip Revue. Plus, arrive early for and delicious food from famed local restauraters, sure to be a crowd pleaser!  

Make sure to stop off on the second level of the Redmont Hotel to bid on the silent auction scheduled from 7-9 p.m.  Those who wish to make purchase any of the fantastic array of generously donated items, are asked bring check and/or cash for final bids. A few of our auction items include: SEC championship tickets, 1 week stay in Sarasota, FL, designer handbags, local art and more. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Norma Livingston Ovarian Cancer Foundation.

 

Facts about Ovarian Cancer:

* Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecological malignancy

* If ovarian cancer is found (and treated) before the cancer has spread outside the ovary, the 5-year survival rate is 92%. However, less than 20% of all ovarian cancers is found at this early stage.

* There is no screening test for ovarian cancer. It is estimated 20,000 women will be afflicted with ovarian cancer this year and over 14,000 will not survive*. *According the American Cancer Society.
